Watch: Australia’s Fawad Ahmed Loses Tooth After Being Hit With Ball While Bowling
Australian spinner had to undergo surgery on his face after receiving a nasty blow while playing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League. The leg-spinner, who is plying his trade for Quetta Gladiators, suffered the mishap during the game against Peshawar Zalmi on March 13.
The incident occurred in the 10th over of the innings when Fawad came to bowl his second over. Imam hit the second delivery of the over which was a length delivery straight at Fawad. The spinner could only get one hand up in time which took the pace off the ball but it still went on to hit him hard on his mouth. Fawad was floored on the field as soon as he received the blow before walking off the field with his physio.
Imam, nonetheless, was out on the very next delivery when Rilee Rossouw came to complete the over. Talking about the game, Quetta Gladiators won the game by ten runs. Batting first, Quetta smashed 186 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Shane Warne starred with the bat, scoring 71 while Ahsan Ali scored 46.
In reply, Peshawar Zalmi were restricted to 176 for 7. An 87-run stand between Kieron Pollard (44) and Darren Sammy (46) threatened to take Peshawar over the line but Watson held his nerve in the final over to power his team to the win. Courtesy of the win, Quetta made it to the final and will take on Peshawar in the title-decider.
