After the massive drubbing in Test and ODI series, Sri Lanka came out all guns blazing in the ongoing T20I against India at Colombo, but their blazing start could not last long with Bhuvneshwar Kumar giving India the much-needed breakthrough.
After Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first on a wet outfield, Sri Lankan openers Niroshan Dickwella and Upul Tharanga looked hell-bent to prove his decision wrong as the Islanders raced to 23 off just 2.1 overs. After collecting just four of the first over, Dickwell hit Jasprit Bumrah for three consecutive fours before Tharanga started the new over with yet another hit to the boundary.
However, just when the batsmen were threatening to cut loose, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had taken a 5-wicket haul in the last ODI, pegged them back with a peach of a delivery to send back captain Tharanga.
With the Sri Lankan batsmen firing on all cylinders, the India fast-bowler went with the tried and tested knuckle delivery, and it paid rich dividends immediately. Bhuvneshwar bowled with a vertical seam which swung in beautifully before passing through Tharanga’s defence to shatter the stumps.
Here is a clip of that wicket:
