The Indian team which was once known for running out of options in the fast bowling department is currently facing the debacle over who to pick and who to drop from the playing XI.
In the recently concluded three-match Test series against Sri Lanka which the host lost 3-0, the sword fell on the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma.
The pitches in Sri Lanka do not favour pace bowling and with Hardik Pandya performing well both with bat and ball, it seems clear that India would play with two specialized seamers and as many regular spinners.
Bhuvi who couldn’t make the cut in the Test playing XI will lead the Indian fast bowling department in the five-match ODI series and is leaving no stone unturned in order to stay fit for the limited over’s series. He recently posted a video of him toiling hard and captioned it,
“Dead bugs with bands and dumbbell – bang for the buck – killer core exercise.” #abs #outdoors #training #gym.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been India’s most consistent fast bowler in the recent times and has been able to contain the batsmen and trouble them at the same time. ‘Bhuvi’, as he is widely known amongst fans is looking forward to carrying his form in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka which will be followed by a five-match ODI series against Australia, which begins next month.
Earlier this week, the BCCI announced the ODI squad to play against the Lankans. With the likes of Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami being rested, the onus will be on Bhuvneshwar and Jasprit Bumrah to lead the bowling department and help India win the series.
