The first day of the ongoing Test between India and Australia did not really pan out as expected for Rohit Sharma and his teammates. India entered the match under pressure following the loss in the third Test and Australia made the most of it.

The visitors fully capitalised on the momentum to put themselves in the driver’s seat at the end of the first day. Riding on Usman Khawaja’s stunning century and his unbeaten stand with Cameron Green, Australia finished the day on a commanding 255 for 4.

Steve Smith won a good toss and decided to bat first. And his teammates fully justified his decision. Khawaja and Travis Head gave the tourists a good start by adding 61 runs for the first wicket before the latter departed. Marnus Labuschagne could not do much but Smith and Khawaja soon steadied the ship.

The duo added 79 runs for the third wicket before India struck back by dismissing Smith and Peter Handscomb in quick succession. However, Khawaja and Green did not let India capitalise on the breakthroughs by sharing an unbeaten stand.

Rohit Sharma threatens to hit Ishan Kishan:

While India were having a tough day on the field, an unusual incident was witnessed involving skipper Rohit Sharma and his younger teammate Ishan Kishan. The incident took place during the second session of the day.

Kishan, who is not a part of the playing eleven for the ongoing game, was assigned the role of water boy. During the second session, he came out with the drinks for his teammates. On his way back to the dressing room, he dropped one of the water bottles on the pitch when Rohit Sharma was handing him the bottle.

And as Kishan, who was in a hurry to leave the field, ran back to pick the bottle up, Rohit Sharma surprisingly  threatened to hit him. While it looked like a joke, it was indeed unusual for the fans.
