It was the match between the defending champions Vancouver Knights and Edmonton Royals. Chasing down the 166 runs target, the in-form Knights captain Chris Gayle played a smashing knock of 94 runs off 44 balls to secure a comfortable victory. Gayle was on the verge of back-to-back two T20 centuries but just failed to claim that.

While Gayle was totally in an aggressive mood, he expressed the cruelty in the 13th over when Shadab Khan came to bowl. Gayle hit boundaries in every delivery of that over as the left-handed batsman smashed 6-6-4-4-6-6. The clueless Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab Khan conceded 32 runs in that over.

Before that over, Vancouver Knights needed to score 59 runs in last eight overs to win that match. Due to that blasting over, Knights quickly chased down that target in 16.3 overs after losing four wickets.

However, Gayle just failed to complete his century as he was caught out at deep square-leg in the 14th over. In that 94-run innings, the left-handed batsman hit six fours and nine sixes. Undoubtedly, Gayle won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant batting performance.

Meanwhile, in that match, Shadab Khan had the bowling figures of 4-0-66-0.
