Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori opens up on his favourite player and shares more about his interest. The left-arm spinner announced the retirement from cricket after the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.
He was the captain of the team from 2007 to 2011. Vettori was the youngest player of New Zealand to play in Test cricket and he played the most number of Test matches for his country. Since he made his debut in the team, he played 113 Test matches and picked 362 wickets. Vettori was one of the best spinners in longest format of cricket and is in the second number in the list of New Zealand’s most Test wicket-takers after Sir Richard Hadlee (431 wickets).
In ODIs, he played 295 matches, most by a New Zealand player and picked 305 Wickets. Daniel Vettori is only one of three men to have scored 4,000 Test runs and taken 300 Test wickets, along with Sir Ian Botham and Kapil Dev.

The player is still connected to cricket. Recently, he became the spin-bowling coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. He recently talked to ESPN Cricinfo where he answered 25 questions related to cricket and his personal experience. Vettori shared his favourite Indian food and talks about Indian fans.
He said that the toughest player to bowl was Rahul Dravid. One of the questions asked was about the player in front of which he was scared to bowl was-Adam Gilchrist.
Vettori was asked to name a player whom he wants in the team. He said the name of Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Former New Zealand cricketer was the coach of Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB). He was asked what would he like to play in IPL or become a coach in IPL. He chose to coach in the league.
