Watch: Darren Sammy Snubs WICB Chairman During Presentation Ceremony Of Independence Cup 1

Some of the few senior players might have returned to the national team, but all is still not well between former West Indies skipper Darren Sammy and West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) chairman Dave Cameron as the former snubbed the latter during the medal presentation ceremony of the recently-concluded Independence Cup between Pakistan and World XI.

That all was not fine in Caribbean cricket was very much evident after Sammy had slammed WICB for not supporting them following the win in World T20 final last year.

“We needed silverware in the Caribbean in 2012 and yes nobody gave us a chance back then. This one with all that happened before the tournament the disrespect from journalists and from our own cricket board that was out of order. The only way we could make statement is by winning this tournament,” Sammy had said in his explosive speech.

“When you see those 15 men out there play now, that’s what we could talk about. It is solely dedicated to the people and fans all over the world,” he had added.

It has been more than a year since Sammy hit out on the board, but it seems the all-rounder is still miffed with the cricket board as he refused to take the medal from Cameron. The former West Indies skipper was in the queue behind David Miller to make the coin, but as soon as he saw Cameron presenting them, he walked out of the queue.

Here is the snippet of the incident:

Meanwhile, Pakistan defeated World XI by 33 runs in the third and final match to win the series 2-1. Batting first, the hosts rode on Ahmed Shehzad’s 89-run knock to post a challenging 183 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Faf du Plessis-led side could manage only 150 for 8.
