The third England vs New Zealand Test at Headingley witnessed some ugly scenes as fans fought against each in the stands while the match was on.

England thrashed New Zealand by 7 wickets in the third and final Test to clean sweep the three-match series. Just like the first two Tests, the hosts were given the task of chasing another 250-plus total in the fourth innings and they did it in style once again.

Two of England’s best batsmen of the series – Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow – starred with the bat on the final day of the game to take their team home. Chasing 296, England needed 113 runs on day five of the game and they did it without much fuss.

After a rain delay, the day did not start on a good note for England as they lost Ollie Pope for 82 in the very first over. However, it was not a precursor of the things that were to follow as Bairstow and Root blew New Zealand away.

The duo stitched together a dominant unbroken stand of 111 to take their team home. Root finished unbeaten on 86 while Bairstow smashed a whirlwind unbeaten 71 from 44 balls.
