The cricket world was eagerly waiting for the Babar Azam vs Mohammad Amir clash during the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings in the ongoing PSL. Both the teams locked horns against each other on Tuesday (February 14).

Even before the game had started, Mohammad Amir raised a number of eyebrows with his statement when asked about his matchup against Babar Azam. The left-arm pacer downplayed the hype of bowling to his former Karachi teammate Babar Azam by telling ARY News:

“These kinds of matchups and player rivalries keep players on their toes. I personally like these sort of challenges because it keeps me focused. My job is to take wickets and win matches for my team, so for me, facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 will be the same.”

Mohammad Amir loses his cool:

While Mohammad Amir had downplayed the hype surrounding him and Babar Azam, his actions during the match stated otherwise. Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings played out a thrilling game as the former registered a narrow 2-run win to open their campaign in the PSL on a winning note.

Babar Azam, who left Karachi Kings last year, once again starred with the bat as he smashed 68 runs off 40 balls. Apart from him Tom Kohler-Cadmore also had a good outing with the bat, scoring 92 off just 50 balls to help Peshawar post 199 for 5 in 20 overs.

In reply, Karachi Kings put up a good fight with the bat but eventually fell two runs short of the target. Captain Imad Wasim (80*) and veteran batsman Shoaib Malik (52) scored fighting fifties but their efforts were not enough.

One of the most interesting incidents from the match took place involving Mohammad Amir and Babar Azam. The left-arm pacer did not have a good outing as he conceded 42 runs without picking up any wicket. He started on a poor note as Muhammad Haris and Babar hit him for a four each in the first over.

Amir was up against Babar once again in the 6th over and the latter hit him for yet another four. And on the very next delivery, the former Pakistan pace spearhead lost his cool. Babar defended the ball towards a frustrated Amir who vented his frustration by throwing the ball towards Amir.
