Cheteshwar Pujara, on Thursday (Mach 2), came up with one of his finest knocks in Test cricket to keep India in the ongoing third Test against Australia at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. On a pitch where batsmen from both the sides have struggled to score runs, the right-handed batsman came up with yet another classy knock to prove his worth in the team.

India were firmly on the backfoot after the end of the first innings. The hosts were bowled out for just 109 runs in the first innings before Australia scored 197 to take a crucial 88-run lead. In the second innings, India were off to a poor start once again as most of their batsmen failed.

The likes of Shubman Gill (5), Rohit Sharma (12), Virat Kohli (13) and others failed to score big on the turning track. Cheteshwar Pujara, however, stood firm at one end and ensured that India wipe out the lead. He went on to complete a fighting fifty.

Cheteshwar Pujara surprises Rohit Sharma with a six:

An interesting and totally unexpected incident took place while Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on day two of the Test. Having hit only 15 sixes in the 100 Tests he has played so far, the India number 3 is not known for playing the big shots.

However, he decided to play one against Nathan Lyon to leave everyone surprised including captain Rohit Sharma. Prior to the six, the cameras had caught Rohit venting his frustration in the dressing room over Pujara and his partner Axar Patel not going for the big shots.

Rohit could be seen expressing his feelings to his younger teammate Ishan Kishan as he gestures and facial expressions made his message very clear.

Rohit then decided to convey his message to the batsmen between the overs and Cheteshwar Pujara duly obliged. On the 3rd ball of the 55th over, he came down the track and hit a big shot over midwicket for a six, leaving everyone surprised including Rohit who could not stop smiling.
