Hardik Pandya has been tipped by many to end India’s long wait for a world-class all-rounder.
That the all-rounder from Baroda is talented was very much is evident from the way he took on the best of the bowlers in the Indian Premier League and caused all kinds of troubles to the batsmen with his pace.
And the 23-year old has now started producing those performances on the international stage.
After playing an integral role in Mumbai Indians’ victorious IPL campaign this season, he took the Champions Trophy by storm with his explosive batting. After making a quickfire 20 off just six deliveries which contained three consecutive sixes in the tournament-opener against Pakistan, the right-handed batsman played a whirlwind knock of 76 off just 43 balls albeit in a losing cause.
He did not get much opportunity to bat on the West Indies tour but made his presence felt by taking six wickets. Recently, he justified his selection in the Test side by scoring a quickfire half-century against Sri Lanka on his debut in addition to taking a wicket.
