Watch: India Found Its Own Mustafizur Rahman Who Will Feature In IPL 10!
As Indian Premier League Auction has thrown up surprises in the recent past, the 25-year-old lean left-arm fast bowler and wily customer from Tamil Nadu, Thangarasu Natarajan made it big as an uncapped player by bagging a three crore contract after his base price took a big leap from INR 10 Lakh.
The talented seamer was bought by Kings XI Punjab for INR 3 crores after former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag and Punjab’s Head of Cricket Operations found that ‘Fizz’ in him while increasing the bidding by 30-times. Natarajan fought it hard and has improved a lot as a cricketer when he had a taste of leather ball at the age of 18.
The 25-year-old has a similar bowling action to that of Bangladesh’s left-arm bowling sensation Mustafizur who deceived the batsmen with odd-cutters and a subtle swing that unnerve the best in business with the bat and Natarajan from India has the same trait to rely on.
With 15-17 paces of run-up while being slightly side on, he cuts the popping crease in half after he jumps with all the effort, then lands and produces a peach of a delivery to rattle the stumps with some sort of a perfection.
With his quick run-up, Natarajan’s landing in the follow through is gentle as his go-to delivery is a perfect Yorker.
Ideally, the find of the IPL for this season Natarajan will be shouldering a massive responsibility for the Punjab side.
In a T20 game, where there is no room for any minor error Natarajan could be the best bet for Punjab given to his immaculate line and length in the fast-paced version of the game.
In 2014-15, Natarajan made his first-class debut in Kolkata against Bengal. Touted as the tennis-ball superstar, Natarajan bagged three wickets against Bengal in the first innings before being reported for the bowling action.
While returning to cricket after 12 months, in Tamil Nadu Premier League Natarajan picked 10 wickets in seven games where he stunned all by his revamped action.
Natarajan has supported his family by selling the newspapers and helped his mother at the tea-stall to earn the livelihood.
After 21 months Natarajan played his second season of Ranji Trophy. In 9 first-class games, Natarajan has bagged 27 wickets at an average of 33.34.
