David Warner finally ran out of luck as Josh Tongue ended his knock with a stunning delivery in the ongoing second Ashes Test at the Lord’s.
The Australia opener finally managed to ease the pressure off himself by scoring a fighting fifty. The left-handed batsman’s fifty is his first in the nine innings since his double-century in the Boxing Day Test last year. It is also his second score beyond 50 in his past 20 innings.
David Warner rode his luck before reaching his fifty. He was dropped by Ollie Pope in the 13th over and made the most of it. The southpaw reached his fifty by hitting Josh Tongue’s short ball for a six as he helped Australia make a good start in testing conditions.
Josh Tongue castles David Warner:
David Warner was unbeaten on 53 at lunch and could add only 13 runs in the second session before Josh Tongue sent him with a peach of a delivery. On the fifth ball of the 30th over, the right-arm pacer completely bamboozled David Warner with a delivery that swung in sharply.
The Australia opener perhaps wanted to drive the ball but was completely beaten by the sharp nip-backer. There was just enough gap between the pad and the bat for the ball to go on and hit the leg stump. Warner departed after scoring 66 runs off 88 balls.

Earlier in the day, Tongue had castled Usman Khawaja with a similar delivery on the stroke of lunch to give England the first breakthrough. At the time of writing this report, Australia were on 142 for 2 with Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne batting in the middle.
