Want to be a professional cricketer?
With the Indian players sweating it out ahead of the much-awaited second Test against Australia in Bengaluru, KL Rahul has given the fans a close look at what goes on during the net sessions. The cricket-crazy fans have always been fascinated by the lives of cricketers and they will be very pleased to know how their beloved cricketers prepare themselves for the international matches.
The India opener said that the training scheduled for the net session is set by the coaches and is written on a board for the players to refer to it and do accordingly.
Speaking about the number of nets available during the training session, Rahul said:
“We have three nets. One for spinners, one for pacers and the last one is where our coaches Sanjay Bangar and Raghu help us with the stick (throw-downs). That is where we practice a particular skill. It is upto the individual whether you want to practice short-ball, reverse-swinging ball, if you want to play sweeps shots, anything. It is up to you. The coaches will help you.”
The Karnataka opener also shed some light on the players’ approach during the nets.
“As players what we are try to do is replicate match situations. If I am batting, I would be picturing Ashwin as Nathan Lyon right now and practicing in that mindset,” he said.
“If you practice with intent and you practice with lot of focus, that is 50 percent of the battle won for the batsman,” he added.
The Karnataka star further talked about the time spent in each nets depending on the number of days remaining before the match.
