Anil Kumble stood up from his seat and was clapping in admiration while commentator Michael Clarke called it “absolutely class bowling”, such was the delivery from debutant Kuldeep Yadav when he bamboozled Glenn Maxwell with an absolute gem in the ongoing fourth Test at Dharamsala.
The 22-year old chinaman bowler had already helped India fight their way back into the match by dismissing a well-set David Warner very early in the second session and he put the hosts firmly on top by castling Maxwell to reduce the visitors to 178 for 5. Two balls before his dismissal, Maxwell had stepped out to hit the Uttar Pradesh youngster for a lofty four. But the left-arm spinner made amends soon by dismissing the explosive batsman with a brilliant googly. The Australian batsman failed to pick up the delivery which turned towards off from middle and leg stump. A clueless Maxwell remained rooted on the backfoot and the ball after flicking his pad went on to hit the top of the off stump. The delivery was so brilliant that it compelled India head coach Anil Kumble to stand and applaud it.
Here is a clip of that dismissal:
