Watch: MS Dhoni Avoids Getting Stumped Using A Smart Trick
MS Dhoni is all about street – smart improvisation.
There is a popular quote from legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, simple yet meaningful and applicable to all walks of life – There is always room for improvisation
If the ‘Picasso’ of Indian cinema, known for his love for the British game, would have been alive today, he would have YELLED the same words after watching Dhoni perform his latest antics.
On most occasions, Dhoni and his acts on the field are loud and clear but sometimes it is subtle.
We all adore him for his swift stumpings but no one has wondered what exactly runs through his mind when he on the other side of the action. There have been occasions where he has been stumped out himself. But, as mentioned earlier, there is always room for improvisation. And, Dhoni is someone who has a brain that work overtimes to sort out complications related to the game.
Therefore, when he was outdone by leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo with a wide leg break and left out of the crease with a risk of getting stumped, the 35-year-old pulled off simple trick and effectively saved his wicket.
MS Dhoni, who played with a very atypical slow approach, did not take many risks before the 40th over of the match. And, even when he thought of doing so, the Windies bowlers were smart enough to contain him.
Bishoo was one of those bowlers who was successful once during the last game. Dhoni desperately needs to break free and pump up the run rate. In an attempt to do so, he tried targeting the leg-spinner first and advanced down the pitch to clear him off.
Unfortunately, Bishoo sensed him coming him forward and quickly changed the line and length of the delivery, pitching it short and wide. But, Dhoni was also quick to realise this change quickly changed his motive and turned around to return the crease as soon as the ball passed him.
This move did not catch many eyes but a bunch of keenly observing fans noticed and soon praises were pouring on Twitter and other social media platforms.
