Watch: MS Dhoni Gets Holder Stumped Twice In As Many Games

West Indies skipper Jason Holder was surrendered his wicket to spin once again today as off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got him stumped down the leg side. It was an optimistic shot from Holder who attempted a powerful stroke but missed completely. To make things worse, he ended up slightly outside the crease in the follow through and could not make it back to the crease in time, all thanks to the evergreen glove work of MS Dhoni who has now moved to 97 ODI dismissals overall.
It was a wide delivery and Holder had no reason stepping down the track. It looked like a generous donation as Ashwin would perhaps consider this dismissal lucky considering the poor line. It was short and spun down the leg side. Holder could not connect and had the bails missing from the top of the stumps when he turned back. The umpire initially only signalled wide but the leg umpire went for a replay which confirmed that it was Holder was out stumped.
More the poor batting decision, it was highly reckless as skipper for him to try such fancy shots when the team is already four wickets chasing 252 at the time of writing.
Also, this is the second time Holder has got himself run out in as many games. In the 2nd ODI, he was foxed by chinaman Kuldeep Yadav’ googly and was stranded way outside the stumps after missing a wild swing. MS Dhoni, who is lighting behind the wicket, had ages to take off the bails which he did in style with a pause and then swoosh of the gloves.
