The former India captain, MS Dhoni hit the nets ahead of the final ODI in Melbourne. The third and last game of the three-match series will take place on Friday (January 18th) at the MCG. MS Dhoni, who faced a lot of flak for his second slowest fifty in the ODIs in Sydney game, came back strong; hitting an unbeaten 55 in the following Adelaide ODI. Courtesy his knock and a brilliant hundred from captain Kohli, India had crossed the winning line with six wickets in hand.

Dhoni looks ready to unleash himself

Ahead of the Melbourne ODI, the BCCI released a video; showing MS Dhoni taking up the deliveries in the nets. The ex-India skipper has underperformed in over a year now, failing to hit a hundred since 2017. His form in the limited-overs cricket has dipped to an extent, and that has become a worry for the management. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant is rising through the ranks; while Dinesh Karthik is among the runs too, giving MS Dhoni a run for his money.

However, the ODI series has seen Dhoni hitting two fifties in as many games. Though his half-century didn’t lead  India to take an early lead in the series during Sydney ODI; his unbeaten 55 helped the visitors level the ODI’s in Adelaide. Furthermore, in the second game, Dhoni took his time but later rotated the strike well; something he didn’t do at will at the SCG. Giving credit to the same, MS didn’t allow the pressure of scoring runs to get built on him.

Later, in the fag end of the match, Dhoni smashed Behrendorff for a six over long-on and later took a single to complete the formalities.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on Thursday, was seen hitting the ball hard in the nets. More importantly, he was middling the ball; a good sign for the India National Cricket Team.
