India star Rohit Sharma might have scared the Windies bowlers with his willow in the recently-concluded ODI series but he was on the receiving end when the team celebrated the triumph in the fifth ODI on Thursday.
India thrashed Windies by 9 wickets in the fifth and final game to clinch the five-match series 3-1. The Men in Blue throughly dominated the contest to make it an a lopsided game. Asked to bowl first, India never let the Windies off the hook.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah gave the team a flying start by dismissing Kieran Powell and Shai Hope respectively for ducks to reduce Windies to 2-2. The Caribbean outfit never recovered from the early setbacks and were eventually all out for 104. The total is Windies’ lowest against India in ODIs.

In reply, India lost Shikhar Dhawan cheaply as the southpaw departed after scoring only 6. However, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did not let the tourists make further inroads in the game. Rohit scored a fifty while Kohli played the role of the second fiddle to perfection as India chased down the total inside 15 overs.

And after the game, the players the win. The BCCI uploaded a video of team India’s celebrations at the hotel. In the video, MS Dhoni can be seen masterminding a prank on Rohit Sharma, by taking the help of Ravindra Jadeja.
Dhoni asked Jadeja to pop a balloon near Rohit while he was cutting the cake and when the all-rounder did so, the Indian opener was left startled. Dhoni and other soon burst into laughter before the players started smearing cakes on each others’ faces.

India and Windies will now battle it out in a three-match T20I series. The series will get underway at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.
