Watch: MS Dhoni Rolls Back The Clock As He Gives His Teammate A Car Ride On Ground
The recently-concluded One-Day International series in Sri Lanka has been nothing short of a fairy-tale for the MS Dhoni faithful. Prior to the start of the series, chief selector MSK Prasad had caused quite a stir by claiming that the former India captain was not an automatic choice in the team anymore and that the selectors would have to look out for alternatives if the senior batsman does not perform.
“Discussions happen about everybody. It is not just MS Dhoni (or anybody else). When we pick, when we talk about combinations, we talk about everybody. Whenever a player keeps ageing, for example, I was just reading Agassi’s book, Open, his life actually started after 30 years. Till then he won two or three titles. His actual life started after that. He lived with media pressure, ‘When are you going to retire?’,” Prasad had said.
“But he played till 36 and he won so many Grand Slams. So you never know. If he (Dhoni) is delivering, why not? If he is not, we will have to look at alternatives,” he had added.
However, the World Cup-winning skipper proved his worth with a brilliant performance in the series. The wicketkeeper-batsman amassed 162 runs and remained not out in all the four games during which he came out to bat. And as if his performance was not enough to delight the fans, the 36-year old rolled back the clock with his trademark act after the game ended.
Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the Man of the Series for picking up 15 wickets in the five-match series and was given a car as a present. And as soon as Kohli received the winners’ trophy, Dhoni took charge of the car while his teammates squeezed themselves on that before the wicketkeeper-batsman, who used to ride the bikes which was awarded to Man of the Series in the yesteryear, took the player on a round of the ground.
