Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have become one of the richest sports personals in the world but the former India skipper, it seems, has still not forgotten his humble roots.
Dhoni’s phenomenal rise from a small town boy, who was once a ticket collector at the Kharagpur railway station, to Indian cricket’s poster boy is very well documented. The 35-year old has carved a huge place for himself in cricket’s history by winning almost everything that was on offer. Beginning from the inaugural World T20 to 50-overs World Cup, the boy wonder from Jharkhand has win every major accolade in the world cricket.
But despite achieving so much in his illustrious career, he has remained rooted all these years and his latest act is bound to leave his fans impressed. The newly-appointed Jharkhand skipper traveled to Kolkata by train to participate in the Vijay Hazare trophy. It was Dhoni’s first train journey in 13 years.
The World Cup-winning skipper, who was recently removed as the skipper of Rising Pune Supergiants, arrived at Howrah station at 7 in the morning.
He was accompanied by his state teammates during the journey.
As expected, he was mobbed by a swarm of fans on the railway platform.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand will begin their Vijay Hazare campaign against Karnataka at the Eden this Saturday.
