Only time will tell whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni will ply his trade for Chennai Super Kings or not in the next edition of the Indian Premier League but the former Super Kings captain gave the cricket-crazy fans of Chennai an unforgettable moment when he came out to bat for a six-hitting contest ahead the opening game of the second edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
One of the most loved cricketer in Chennai, Dhoni had led the city-based franchise to two Indian Premier League titles and as many Champions League T20 titles in addition to four other IPL finals before his highly successful journey came to an abrupt when the franchise was suspended for a couple of years on corruption charges in 2015. Consequently, Dhoni played for Rising Pune Supergiant in the last two season. But with the suspension coming to an end earlier this month, the fans have already expressed their desire of seeing Dhoni in the famous yellow. The social media have been flooded with fans’ message showing their wish to see Dhoni leading the Super Kings again. And while only it is still far from guaranteed that which team Dhoni will play for in the eleventh season of the league, the World Cup-winning skipper turned back the clocks at theย MA Chidambaram Stadium with some huge sixes.
Donning a yellow T-shirt, the 35-year old along with his former Super Kings teammate Matthew Hayden participated in the six-hitting contest. Apart from these two some other former Super Kings players- Mohit Sharma, S Badrinath, Pawan Negi and Anirudha Srikkanth also took part in the six-hitting contest.
