The twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League will get underway on March 23 and the fans could not have asked for a better opener. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will host Royal Challengers Bangalore in a mouth-watering clash at the Chepauk. The fight is not only between two neighbouring states but also between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli – the past and present of the national team. While Dhoni has created his own legacy as India skipper, Kohli looks well on his way to carve his own place in the Indian cricket history.
The fight is also between one of the most successful teams in the league and the one which is yet to live up to the expectations. Chennai Super Kings are one of the most decorated IPL teams, having won the league thrice. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore are yet to win it even once despite making three final appearances. Both the teams, nonetheless, is full of big names apart from MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Apart from the two, the likes of AB de Villiers, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Dwayne Bravo and several other big names are likely to play the game.
And as the fans desperately wait for the clash, IPL’s official Twitter handle has just increased the excitement by releasing a commercial featuring Dhoni and Kohli. In the video, the fans could be seen chanting Dhoni and Kohli’s names. The brilliant commercial ends with an interesting conversation between the two star themselves.
“Dhoni, Dhoni, @msdhoni or Kohli, Kohli, @imVkohli? We can’t wait for this battle of the greats. Match 1 of #VIVOIPL between @ChennaiIPL and @RCBTweets #GameBanayegaName,” wrote IPL on Twitter.
