Watch: Mushfiqur Rahim Capitalises On Dinesh Chandimal’s Lethargy To Effect Brilliant Run-Out
Not very long ago, Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim had become a laughing stock on the social media for missing the easiest of stumping against Wriddhiman Saha during he one-off Test against India. Well, we are not sure whether his latest exploit from behind the stumps will make amends for his horrible miss against India but there is certainly no denying that it will make him feel good.
The incident happened during the third One-Day International between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. After hitting a Shakib Al Hasan delivery towards the deep point region, Sri Lanka star Dinesh Chandimal correctly tried to take a couple of runs. However, just when he was about to complete the second run, a bizarre incident happened. Chandimal was looking well within the crease when Rahim received a good throw and took the bails off in no time. But to everyone’s surprise, he appealed for a run-out and although the appeal was without much conviction, it looked bizarre at that point of time. Not surprisingly, the fielders were also not looking convinced and returned to their respective positions. However, replays showed that Chandimal’s feet and bat did not touch the ground when the bails were dislodged. The TV umpire correctly gave his decision in the favour of the visiting team. The decision, however, did not cost Sri Lanka much as they went on to beat Bangladesh by 70 runs to level the three-match series.
Here is a clip of that run-out:
