Nothing much has gone right for Bangladesh in the ongoing Test against India. The ninth-ranked side in the world had begun well against their fancied opponents by getting rid of KL Rahul in the very first over. However, since then it all has been a one-way traffic.
The world number one side has thoroughly dominated the game as the Indian batsmen have made merry against an attack that has lacked the killer instinct. Bangladesh’s misery has been further compounded by their poor display on the field. The visitors failed to make several chances count on the opening day including the run-out chance when Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara were standing at the same end.
And the poor display continued on the second day too and this Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim was the culprit. Mehedi Hasan had given his team the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane for 82 to end the mammoth 222-run partnership between him and Virat Kohli. And Bangladesh got a brilliant chance to put the hosts under further pressure only to see Rahim spurn it. The incident happened when Wriddhiman Saha, who had just arrived on the crease, danced down the track against Taijul Islam for a biggie. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman failed to make any contact with the ball, giving Rahim an easy chance for the stumping. But the Bangladesh skipper made a meal of it as he completely missed the stumps on first and second go and by the time he dislodged the bails off, Saha was well within the crease.
Here is a clip of that howler from the Bangladesh wicketkeeper:
