Aus vs Ind 2018/19: Nathan Lyon’s Heartwarming Gesture After Mohammed Shami Bumps Into Him
The India-Australia rivalry is all about fierce competition. Over the years, this celebrated rivalry has taken a fierce form with so much riding at stake. Almost every India-Australia contest sees banters, sledging and controversies. The recently-concluded Test series is the most recent example of how fierce this contest could get. Players from either side tried everything they could do to unsettle the opposition players.
But Tuesday saw an unusual incident as far as this rivalry is concerned. Nathan Lyon came up with a beautiful gesture to show that the game is not all about fierce competition. The incident took place in the 48th over of Australia’s innings. On the fifth ball of the over, Mohammed Shami bowled a yorker to Lyon. The Australia spinner managed to dig in and stop the ball from hitting the stumps. And as soon as the ball hit the bat, he set away for a single. In the meantime, Shami came running it to stop Lyon from stealing the single. Consequently, Shami bumped into Lyon and seemed to have taken a blow on his forehead. Shami was moving towards his bowling spot while rubbing his forehead. Lyon then asked him was he fine before patting him on the back.
Here is a clip of that incident:
Meanwhile, Australia ended their innings on 298 for 9 with Shaun Marsh scoring a fine ton and the target for India national cricket team is 299 runs.
