David Warner’s poor Test record in India has further extended as Mohammed Shami castled him for just 1 in the ongoing first Test between India and Australia in Nagpur.
Australia’s decision to win the toss and bat first has backfired so far as India are off to a stunning start. Both the Australia openers are back in the hut after scoring 1 run each to leave their team reeling at 2 for 2.
Mohammed Siraj gave India the first breakthrough by trapping in-form Usman Khawaja in front of the stumps. The umpire had initially given his decision in the favour of the batsman before India reviewed and sent back Khawaja.
Mohammed Shami sends back David Warner:
Even before Australia could recover from Usman Khawaja’s departure, Mohammed Shami piled more misery on them by castling David Warner with a stunning delivery.
David Warner has struggled against bowlers bowling from round the wicket and Shami fully exploited it. Making full use of the angle from round the stumps, Shami bowled a length delivery that moved in after landing on the pitch before beating David Warner’s bat. The ball went on to hit the off-stump and sent it flying to send the Indian players and fans wild.
Here is a clip of David Warner’s dismissal:

David Warner’s latest failure has only extended his poor Test record in India. Prior to the ongoing Test, he had managed to score only 388 runs in 16 Tests at an average of just over 24 and highest score of 71.
One of the best and most decorated openers of this era, Warner will be desperate to make amends and improve his Test record in India in the coming days. Talking about the game, Australia were 20 for 2 at the time of writing this report.
