Maharashtra skipper Rahul Tripathi pulled off a miraculous effort at the boundary ropes in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 while playing against Railways. Tripathi who plays for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League came up with a staggering effort at the boundary. It was the last ball of the match when Railways needed impossible 22 runs.
Railways tailender Manjeet Singh swung hard but Tripathi was able to flick the ball back to Divyang Himganekar after jumping to successfully take the one-handed grab. The scoreboard will show that Divyang Himganekar took the catch but the effort which was made by Rahul Tripathi was stellar.
It was an outstanding effort.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra had gone on to win the match against Railways by 21 runs. Maharashtra had posted 177 in their 20 overs after Railways skipper won the toss and elected to bowl first. Rahul Tripathi could not hit the ground running as he was run out for two runs.
Maharashtra wicketkeeper-batsman Nikhil Naik top scored as he scored 95 runs from 58 balls with the help of four fours and eight sixes. Naushad Shaikh scored a good knock of 59 runs from 39 balls laced with six fours and two sixes. Both of them added an alliance of 119 runs for the third wicket partnership.
However, Railways could not chase down the target even after their openers provided them with a good start. Mrunal Devdhar and Pratham Singh had added 68 runs for the opening stand. However, the Railways kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Subsequently, Maharashtra will lock horns with Karnataka in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy today at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
Meanwhile, Rahul Tripathi had batted at the top of his game in IPL 2017 while playing for Rising Pune Supergiant. The right-hander had scored 391 runs in 14 matches of the season. However, he could not repeat the same performance while playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018.
