One just cannot keep Ravindra Jadeja out of action when he is on a cricket field. The India allrounder just loves to make contribution whether it was with his bat, ball or his razor-sharp fielding. Well, the world witnessed his fielding prowess once again on Tuesday during the ongoing second ODI between India and Australia at The Adelaide Oval.
Trailing the series 1-0, India need to win this game at any cost to keep the series alive and the Men in Blue have made a fine start. The Virat Kohli-led side have got rid of Australian openers quickly to put themselves in the driver’s seat. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave India the perfect start by castling Australia skipper Aaron Finch for 6 before Mohammed Shami dismissed Alex Carey to leave Australia reeling at 26 for 2. Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh, the half-centurions in the previous game, then steadied the ship. The two had already added more than 50 runs for the third wicket before Ravindra Jadeja came up with a moment of brilliance to end the dangerous partnership.
Khawaja had chopped a shorter delivery from Kuldeep Yadav towards point and decided to challenge Jadeja’s arm only to regret it later. Jadeja quickly moved across, gathered the ball with one end before firing a bullet throw to hit the stumps at the bowler’s end while still in motion. Replays showed Khawaja was short of his crease as Indian fielders broke into celebration.
