Royal Challengers Bangalore star Will Jacks, on Thursday (June 22), showed why the IPL franchise signed him up by unleashing a breathtaking display of power in the ongoing T20 Blast.
Playing for Surrey, Jacks blew Middlesex away with his power-hitting. The right-handed batsman smashed 5 consecutive sixes in an over as he came agonizingly close to joining the elite club of players who have hit six sixes in an over. The bowler who found himself at the receiving end of the assault was leg-spinner Luke Hollman.
Having conceded 18 runs in his first two overs, Hollman came to bowl the 11th over of the innings and was taken to the cleaners by the RCB star. The opening batsman smashed him for five back-to-back sixes. Jacks had the opportunity to hit the last ball for a six too as it was a full toss but could only hit it for a single.
Jacks also missed out on a well-deserved century by just 4 runs. The Surrey opener smashed 96 runs off 45 balls with the help of 8 fours and 7 sixes. He put on a mammoth 177-run stand with his opening partner Laurie Evans who scored 85. Jacks’ innings ended on the first ball of the 15th over.

Thanks to Jacks’ impressive knock, Surrey posted a mammoth total of 252 for 7. However, the score was not enough as Middlesex came up with an unbelievable batting display to chase down the huge total with 4 balls remaining and 7 wickets in hand.
Earlier this year, Jacks pulled out of IPL 2023 due to an injury. RCB had signed him up for Rs 3.2 crore and later replaced him with New Zealand allrounder Michael Bracewell.
