Watch: Rohit Sharma Leaves Heartwarming Message For Fans After Historic Tour Of Sri Lanka 1

With the tour of Sri Lanka ending on the best possible note for Team India, opening batsman Rohit Sharma has expressed his delight over the successful tour, calling it an amazing journey.

Team India began the tour with the whitewash in Tests, thrashing the hosts by an innings in two of the three Tests. The story remained same in the One-Day Internationals with the Men in Blue winning the series 5-0.  The series was also a fruitful one for Rohit. The right-handed batsman, who did not get a single game during the Test series, did not have a good record in the island nation before the recently-concluded series but made amends for it with a brilliant display, scoring a couple of centuries and a fifty to finish the series as its second-highest run-scorer.

Virat Kohli & Co. then thrashed the hosts by 7 wickets in the one-off T20I to seal a historic ‘tour wash’. Delighted with the team’s stunning performance, Rohit took to Twitter to say that irrespective of the opposition’s strength, returning home from a tour without suffering a single loss is never easy.

“What an amazing journey this has been for all of us right from the Test series till the last T20I we played today. We are going back home undefeated and that is never easy, it doesn’t matter which country we play in. Just goes to show that this team has a lot of character and we have got a great bunch of players and support staff who are willing to work hard all the time and give everything they have,” the batting star said.

He further thanked the fans for their support before saying that the team is now looking forward to the upcoming series against Australia.

“Credit goes to each and every one of us. Also the support back home. Your continued support is always appreciated by all the players and we look forward to your continued support in the future again. Thank you again, and we look forward to Australia now,” he added.
