In modern day cricket, wicket-keeping has turned into an underestimated job. It has become a sort of complementary work unlike in old times when a designated individual held a place in the team as the specialized keeper.
That being said, the quality of wicket keeping has not dwindled at all. The standards are at an all-time high. Regardless of the format and the gender in action.
With Women’s cricket flourishing, the ladies have upped the ante and are performing with great level of intensity and commitment. The motivating fact is that such feats are occurring with regularity.
English wicket keeper Sarah Taylor gave a perfect example of raising standard of women’s cricket today during the 1st semi-final between England and South Africa.
Razor sharp collection, perfect technique and swift retort to disturb the bails – all these in few milliseconds before batswomen Trisha Chetty could regain the balance she lost after missing her shot.
As far as stumpings go, it was a sensational effort from Taylor.
In the 12th over, Sciver managed to beat Chetty with a delivery sliding down the leg side. The right hander lost her balance having missing the slightly fuller delivery which could have been easily nudged on the leg side. Taylor committed no blunder in collecting the ball despite being blinded by the angle.
It did appear that the ball somewhat slipped out of the glove. But, the Englishwoman managed to keep hold of it and flicked the bails in nanoseconds to complete the spectacular dismissal leaving the crowd totally impressed.
