Watch: Sarfraz Ahmed Picks The Better Player Between Joe Root & Virat Kohli
Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has also weighed in on the never-ending debate over who is the best batsman in the world at the moment. The race is basically between India skipper Virat Kohli, Australia skipper Steve Smith, England skipper Joe Root and New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson.
Well, Sarfraz was recently asked in an interview to pick one between Kohli and his England counterpart Joe Root. The Pakistan star, in reply, did not even take a second and said Kohli is better than Root.
“Virat Kohli. If you consider the overall package, Kohli is better across all the formats. His fitness and fielding is top notch,” Sarfraz said.

Meanwhile, Kohli has further elevated his stature as arguably the best batsman in the world at the moment by scoring his sixth double century in Test cricket. The 29-year old achieved the feat in the third Test against Sri Lanka, slamming a career-best 243 to become the first captain to score six double centuries. The knock also helped him to go level with Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag for the most 200-plus scores for India in Tests. The right-handed batsman also crossed the 5,000 Test-run mark during the monumental knock.
At just 29, Kohli has scored 52 tons and 77 half-centuries across all formats. Currently the best ODI and T20I batsman in the world, Kohli is the only player to average more than 50 in all the three formats. Kohli is the leading run-scorer in ODIs this year, having amassed 1,460 runs in 26 games at an average of over 76. In Tests, he is at fourth place with 1,009 runs to his name, trailing first-placed Dean Elgar by just 88 runs.
