India skipper Rohit Sharma, on Wednesday (June 7), avoided sustaining a serious injury while he was going out on the field for the toss before the ongoing ICC World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval in London.

The highly-anticipated WTC final got underway on Wednesday as India and Australia resumed their Test rivalry. This is the first time India and Australia are playing a Test against each other in England. Both the teams qualified for the WTC final after finishing in the top two of the points table.

While Australia finished at the top of the standings, India finished at the second spot. Australia are playing the WTC final for the first time while India are playing it for the second time. Team India had made it to the final of the inaugural WTC final too under Virat Kohli’s captaincy but failed to win the clash as Kane Williamson-led New Zealand won the game to register a historic triumph.

Rohit nearly falls down the stairs:

Talking about the scary incident involving Rohit Sharma, it took place just before the toss. As Rohit Sharma was making his way to the field for the toss, he tripped and nearly fell down the stairs. Fortunately, the India skipper managed to regain his balance quickly and avoided any mishap.

Talking about the ongoing WTC final, Australia have managed to steady the ship after making a poor start. Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. And his decision was proved right straightaway as Mohammed Siraj struck in the 4th over to dismiss in-form Usman Khawaja for a 10-ball duck.

However, Australia have managed to recover from the early setback. At the time of writing this report, the Pat Cummins-led side were on 67 for 1 in the 22nd over. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne are fighting it out in the middle for Australia.
