Watch: Shahid Afridi Slams Whirlwind Fifty In T10 League, Hits Wahab Riaz For Four Consecutive Sixes
Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi smashed a blazing fifty to light up the ongoing T10 League in the United Arabia Emirates.
Shahid Afridi is well past his prime. However, even then the maverick allrounder looks totally unstoppable once he is in full flow, enthralling the cricket fans with his brute force. The hard-hitting allrounder once again showed the might of his willow on Saturday at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium as he played a blinder of an inning.
The right-handed batsman hit a whirlwind 17-ball 59 to lead Pakhtoons to a 13-run win over Northern Warriors in the T10 League. The skipper led from the front, hammering seven sixes and three boundaries to lead his side to an impressive win.
Riding on Afridi’s knock, Pakhtoons piled up 135 for 5 in the allotted 10 overs. Batting first, Pakhtoons openers failed to give the team a good start. Openers Andre Fletcher and Cameron Delport walked back cheaply after scoring 14 and 5 runs respectively. The middle order too failed to deliver with the Colin Ingram and Shafiqullah Shafiq failing to contribute much. But Afridi took the matters in his own hands, slamming a fifty to guide his side to a big total.
He smacked former Pakistani teammate Wahab Riaz for four consecutive sixes in four deliveries in an over. Riaz after the brutal thrashing ended up conceding 34 runs off his two overs.
In reply, Northern Warriors gave a good fight with Rovman Powell leading the charge. The West Indies star blasted 80 off 35 but it wasn’t enough. They lost the match by 13 runs after managing to post 122/4 in 10 overs
Shahid Afridi deservedly scooped the Man of the Match award for his stunning knock.
