For almost the entirety of the second day of the ongoing Test between India and Australia in Pune, the fans had very little to enjoy. The Indian team suffered one of its worst collapses in Test history to get folded for a mere 105. Replying to Australia’s first innings total of 205, the hosts, who have not lost a game in their last 19 Tests, were put to sword on a track that has assisted the spinners right from the first ball of the match.
India’s misery was further compounded by Australia’s sensible batting in the second innings. After losing their openers cheaply, the visitors, led by their skipper Steve Smith, crossed the 100-run mark for the loss of three wickets, taking their lead over 250 runs in the process. Amidst all this, the fans, who were sitting in the stands under the scorching sun, got a rare moment to lighten their mood. The incident happened in the 39th over of Australia’s second innings when Mitchell Marsh hit a huge six in the stands to bring the spectators to life.
The spectators, who had very little to do until then, refused to return the ball. But after some time, they realised their mistake and returned the ball.
