Watch: Suranga Lakmal's Bizarre Catch With Just One Shoe On 1

It looks like the infamous air of New Delhi is making it tough even for the cricketers to see the ball. Well, at least the way Suranga Lakmal nearly made a meal of a regulation catch in the ongoing third Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla somewhat proves that.

After Virat Kohli won the toss and rightly decided to bat first on a flat pitch, Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay began the proceedings on the expected note- looking at ease and scoring at their well. It was looking next to impossible that Sri Lanka would get any wicket soon before Dhawan decided to prove everyone wrong.

The southpaw had raced to 23 off just 35 before deciding to kneel down and sweep one from Dilruwan Perera. However, he could not make proper contact with the ball which flew towards deep backward square leg after taking the top edge of the bat. Meanwhile, the drama was yet to unfold as Lakmal ran in to take the catch. As soon as the ball left the bat, the fast-bowler ran from his position to take the catch, but in doing so, he lost one of his shoes almost lost his balance. Even before the ball could reach him, he was on his knees but somehow managed to hold on to the ball before falling on the ground. His reaction more or less made it clear that taking catches under the hazy conditions of Delhi is not going to be easy for the players.

Here is a clip of that dismissal:
