With already so many poor decisions witnessed in the ongoing T20 series between India and England, the players, it seems, are losing their faith in the umpires.
After the umpiring howlers played a significant role in India’s victory in the second T20I, the series decider too saw a poor decision being made by the umpire when KL Rahul was given out by Anil Chaudhary even though the delivery was not legitimate since the bowler Ben Stokes had overstepped.
And so it was not surprising at all when India skipper Virat Kohli walked up to Nitin Menon after the umpire had given the decision in Jason Roy’s favour when an Ashish Nehra delivery hit him on the back pad. The incident happened on the very first ball of England’s innings when Roy, after moving across the stumps, shouldered arm an incoming Nehra delivery only to see it crashing against his back pad. Consequently, Nehra appealed vehemently but the umpired turned down the appeal as the ball was clearly missing the off stump. However, Kohli was not impressed with the umpire’s decision and went to the official to know the reason behind his decision.
