India skipper Virat Kohli, who surpassed Australia’s former skipper Ricky Ponting for second-most number of hundreds in One-day international hundreds, is a household name across the cricketing globe while marching to staggering numbers under his belt since making his top-flight cricket debut in 2008.

The quick learner of the game Kohli made his debut at Dambulla in Sri Lanka nine years back which further saw him achieving milestone after another so far following the occasional hiccups.

A packed-crowd welcomed the Delhi-based batting mainstay Kohli – to witness the delightful shots before he went past fifty-run mark in 62 deliveries following a cautious start when paceman Trent Boult was at his best with the white ball.

The 28-year-old sublime Kohli is playing his 200th One-day international for India, as he subsequently became overall 14th Indian player to feature in two-hundred ODIs or more.

Moreover, spectacular Kohli became an overall 72nd player in the 50-over format to feature in his 200th day-long game.

With India concurrently playing first of the three-match One-day international, it is also an overall 21st ODI at Wankhede in Mumbai.

After left-handed batsman, Shikhar Dhawan was undone by wily customer Trent Boult which saw Kohli walking into the field amid rousing welcome from the spectators, who turned to the stadium to watch the game.

Kohli made his appearance on the ground when India was 16 in 3.2 overs which further saw the fans shouting ‘Kohli… Kohli’.

While adding another feather to his cap, at the top, Kohli has had already notched-up 30 hundreds while shouldering the responsibility – to flay the quality bowling stocks of distinct oppositions in the recent past owing to his batting skills and temperament.

Being in the limelight, Kohli has taken the world by storm in gentleman’s game for his aggressive and quality cricket across formats.

While meeting the demand of his die-hard fans, Kohli has been at the forefront – to set the plinth for India particularly in the limited-overs format.

Without too much of fuss, Kohli has inspired many, particularly while batting in a run-chase to solely rely on his strength, as he made it a norm to be among the bulk of runs.

Kohli also joined the elite list of former national players which especially include Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who had tasted the thorough success while batting before registering several records under his belt.
