Indian cricket team has already kicked off the West Indies tour with a practice match against the West Indies Presidents’ XI was spotted doing fielding drill in which the players were seen mastering the art of taking diving catches. In a video uploaded by BCCI, we can see the Test skipper Virat Kohli and Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan taking diving catches and then landing on a cushion which is placed on the ground for their safety so that players can dive to their best without any fear of being hurt.
First, it was Shikhar Dhawan who dived to his left to take a good catch and then it was the turn of the skipper who dived at the speed of electricity to catch the ball. After taking the catch he immediately recovered and stood up. Of these two, Kohli seemed to be more energetic and fit as the moment he fell down completing the catch, the same moment he stood up for the next one.
As we know that catches win matches, so this is a unique technique that has been adopted by the newly appointed fielding coach Abhay Sharma to sharpen the skills of the players. By using this technique the players can put in their best effort without any fear in their mind and can later emulate this on the field. We hope that the players are able to emulate the tricks on the field.
Currently, Indian team is busy playing the first of the two practise matches against the West Indies Presidents XI. Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first, at stumps the score was 258/6. KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma scored a half-century on day 1. Captain and vice captain did not have the best start to the voyage as they were dismissed on score 14 and 5 respectively.
