Things have not really unfolded in an expected manner for Virat Kohli in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Wth no burden of captaincy on his shoulder, Kohli was expected to do well this season. However, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper has struggled with his form. In 12 games so far, he has managed to score only 216 runs at an average of less than 20. Kohli has scored those runs at a modest strike-rate of just over 111.
In 12 games, he has managed to hit only 4 sixes. But more than the run-tally and the sixes, Kohli’s first-ball ducks have garnered all the attention this season. The batting superstar has been dismissed for three golden ducks, the most by him in a season of IPL. Prior to the ongoing season, he had only three golden ducks in the previous 14 seasons of the tournament. And Kohli’s lean patch in this season meant, he has doubled that tally in just 12 games.

But despite the lean patch and those three ducks, Kohli’s spirits is still high. It was pretty much evident from his hilarious reaction when he was asked about it by Danish Sait aka Mr. Nags during a conversation. Kohli could not stop smiling when Mr. Nags told him ‘recently on tv, everybody saw you got two ducks’. Mr. Nags’ comment came after Kohli said that he has no pets at home since he and his wife do not have time to take care of them.
Kohli could not control his laughter after the comment from Mr. Nags before saying: “First-ball ducks. After the second one (duck), I actually realised what It feels like to be like you (Mr Nags character), absolutely helpless. It hasn’t happened to me ever in my career, I think . I have seen everything now. It’s been so long, I have seen everything in this game.”
Virat Kohli’s comment for critics:
With form not on his side, Kohli has been facing criticism from several quarters. However, he has once again made it clear that he doesn’t bother much about what experts and critics have been saying about his form. Kohli also added that he keeps his television on mute in a bid to avoid “outside noise”.
“They can’t be in my shoes. They can’t feel what I feel. They can’t live my life. They can’t live those moments. How do you cut out the noise? You either mute the TV or don’t pay attention to what people are saying. I do both those things,” Kohli added.
