Not a single Indian cricket fan can forget 19 September 2007, when Yuvraj Singh lighted up Durban’s Kingsmead with a never-seen-before spectacle.
Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff tried to verbally take on the southpaw without realising the devastation his war of words could cause.
After the altercation between the two, Stuart Broad came to bowl and paid a hefty price for his teammate’s conduct, as he ended up conceding six consecutive sixes. Yuvraj reached his fifty off only 12 balls which is a record in itself in T20 Internationals. Broad tried every ploy, changing the side, line and length, but to no avail, as every ball found its way into the stands. India had gone on to win the game and eventually the tournament.

Tuesday (September 19) was the tenth anniversary of that famous match, and the knock was remembered by one and all across social media. Former India opener Virender Sehwag, who opened the innings in that game, also revisited Yuvraj’s memorable knock. He took to Twitter to post a video and captioned it:
“Congratulations @YUVSTRONG12 on giving all of us a moment to cherish forever.”
“19 September 2007 – How can I forget this day? India were up against England in Durban. That was a very important match for us. Me and Gautam opened the innings and added about 100 runs, but that partnership did not have much entertainment,” said Sehwag in his video.
“When Yuvraj Singh came to bat, he tore apart England. He scored 14 runs off the first six balls, and Flintoff thought that India had not scored much and so he riled up our lion. He had an altercation with Yuvraj but the price was paid by Stuart Broad,” Sehwag added.“Yuvraj slammed a six in every corner of Kingsmead, hitting Broad for six sixes off as many balls and became the king of Kingsmead.”
“That was an unforgettable innings. I can never forget that knock and neither will you. He played a historic knock off 12 balls. Thank you Yuvraj, it was a sheer joy. All the very best,” he concluded.
