Stuart Broad vs David Warner – This is one player battle that pretty much dominated the pre series talk as England and Australia resumed their Test rivalry through the ongoing Ashes.
Broad has been Warner’s nemesis in Tests. The Australia opener has a terrible record against the England pacer in the longest format of the game. Before the ongoing first Test, Broad and David Warner faced each other in 26 Tests and the pacer had dismissed the southpaw 14 times.
When Australia visited England in 2019 for the Ashes, Broad had pretty much bullied Warner. The right-arm pacer had dismissed him 7 times in 10 innings as the batsman managed to score only 95 runs during the disastrous series. Before the start of the ongoing Test at Edgbaston, England skipper Ben Stokes had admitted that Broad’s record against Warner was one of the reasons why he was picked in the playing eleven.
Stuart Broad dismisses David Warner:
Well, Stuart Broad dismissing David Warner looks almost inevitable now as it happened once again on Saturday (June 17). Warner was only on 9 when he ended up losing his wicket after playing a poor shot. It was a length delivery outside off from Broad and Warner threw his hands looking to cut it away.
However, he ended up under edging the ball onto the stumps and his reaction said it all as Broad and his teammates celebrated the dismissal wildly. The England fans were delighted too as they saw Broad coming out on top against Warner once again. Broad has now dismissed Warner 15 times in Tests.
