Watch: Wriddhiman Saha Takes A Superb Flying Catch To Dismiss Theunis de Bruyn

After returning to international cricket from early this month, Wriddhiman Saha has hugely impressed with his amazing wicketkeeping skills. Once again, he showed that wicketkeeping skill on Sunday (13th October) morning.

The hosts India and the visitors South Africa are currently busy in the Pune Test. Sunday is the fourth day of the second match of this three-match Test series. South Africa’s top-order batting struggle has continued on this morning session too.

Wriddhiman Saha took a great catch behind the stumps

After the opener Aiden Markram (0) lost his wicket through the lbw, Theunis de Bruyn (8) soon returned to the pavilion due to a superb flying catch by Wriddhiman Saha.

Theunis de Bruyn was dismissed during the sixth over of the day. On 5.4 overs, the Indian pacer Umesh Yadav‘s delivery went down to the leg side and Theunis managed to put an edge. However, totally aware Saha grabbed that ball brilliantly behind the stumps after diving towards the ball. That stunning catch forced the visitors to go down 21/2.

Since January 2018, Wriddhiman Saha missed out the Test cricket for a long time due to fitness issues. He returned to the national squad during the previous Test series against the home team Windies in August-September. However, the team management didn’t select him in the playing XI in both Tests of that series.

But due to the huge batting struggle, young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been dropped out from the Test playing XI in the ongoing home Test series against South Africa. In the first Test of this series at Visakhapatnam, Saha returned to India’s playing XI.

Now, he is playing the second Test after his international return. In both these Tests, Saha has impressed hugely with his wicketkeeping skills.

Earlier, in the ongoing Pune Test, India managed to score 601/5 (decl.) in the first innings after winning the toss. In reply, South Africa only scored 275 runs in their first innings. On Sunday morning, the Indian captain Virat Kohli forced the visitors to face the follow on.

India are leading this three-match Test series by 1-0 after winning the Visakhapatnam Test by 203 runs.
