Watch: Yuzvendra Chahal Bowls A Beauty To Get Rid Of Martin Guptill
India’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal provided the much-needed breakthrough when he bamboozled New Zealand opener, Martin Guptill, with a jaffa. Guptill had provided a flying start to his team with a blistering knock of 46-ball 66 and had added 106 with his partner Henry Nicholls. Thus, a wicket was the need of the hour for the Indian team.
Chahal pitched the ball on middle and leg stump and was able to get the turn. The ball gripped and turned and hit the top of the off-stump of Guptill’s stumps. It was a beauty from Indian leg-spinner and the visitors got the big wicket of the New Zealand opener. In fact, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra and spinner Harbhajan Singh called Chahal’s beauty as the ball of the decade on the Hindi Commentary.
Furthermore, Chahal got another big wicket of New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. The ball stopped and the right-hander gave a simple catch to Mayank Agarwal. Hence, Chahal was able to bring back India into the contest.
It was beautifully bowled.
Meanwhile, India posted a score of 296 runs after Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl first. The visitors got off to a poor start as they lost Mayank Agarwal early. Moreover, the tourists were reeling at 62-3 and then Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul added an alliance of 100 runs.
Iyer scored his second consecutive fifty but could not go all the way as he was dismissed for 62 runs. KL Rahul continued his sublime form as he scored his fourth ODI century.
The stylish batsman scored 112 runs from 113 balls with the help of nine fours. Manish Pandey scored 42 runs from 48 balls.
However, the visitors could not provide the finishing touches as they could only manage 27 runs in the last three overs. Hamish Bennett was the pick of the Kiwis bowlers as he took four wickets.
