Waving Indian Flag At Lord's Backfires For Akshay Kumar 1

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar was one of the celebrities cheering Indian women cricket team from the stands during the just-concluded World Cup final at Lord’s on Sunday (July 23). Before the start of the game, he had also posted a video on Twitter sharing his excitement to watch the game and also narrated how he ran barefoot to catch a train so that he could be on time for the match.

Excited to cheer the country on such a big occasion, he also carried with him the Indian tricolour flag to wave. The actor was being praised for his enthusiasm to support the women and everything looked absolutely fine until he posted a picture of himself waving the tricolour upside down. And as soon as he tweeted the picture, the Twitterati wasted no time in taking a dig at him.

Here is the photo shared by the actor:

But the episode soon came to an end after Akshay realised his mistake and took down the picture before issuing a formal apology.

“Extending my sincerest apology for violating the code of conduct for the tricolour. Didn’t mean to offend anyone, the picture has been removed,” he tweeted.

The actor, meanwhile, was also seen spending some time with the Indian players after they lost the thrilling match by just 9 runs.

Mithali Raj & Co. had done extremely well to restrict England to 228 for 7 in the allotted 50 overs and were looking set to overhaul target when they were placed at 191 for 3. However, a dramatic collapse saw them losing the last seven wickets for just 28 runs to get all out for 219.
