Out of favour South African pacer Wayne Parnell who had played his last Test against Sri Lanka, is not sure of his future as an international cricketer and whether he fits into the scheme of things or not.
He performed well in his last Test which saw him finishing with match figures of 6/89 to bowl his side to an emphatic victory by an innings and 111 runs.

Since then Parnell hasn’t played in the longest format, and despite being a part of the squad which toured New Zealand, he didn’t feature in any of the three matches and was dropped from the squad for the four-match Test series in England. The return of Morne Morkel to the Test XI hasn’t quite helped Parnell’s cause either, and ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh, the left-arm pacer finds himself in a bit of a quandary.
“Coming into this series against Bangladesh, I am not sure where I fit into that. Not sure of what’s going to happen there. Why I was left out of the England squad, I also don’t know there is a new coach now also, so we need to see how it unfolds,” Parnell said.
With Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander expected to spearhead the attack for the Bangladesh series, it is highly unlikely that Parnell will be part of the setup. The four other pacers are expected to be Morne Morkel, Kagiso Rabada, Duanne Olivier and Chris Morris.
Neither Olivier nor Morris were consistent in England which led to their series loss by a 3-1 margin. But Parnell has a better record that Morris with both having the ability to contribute with the bat as well. While Morris has a bowling average of 38, Parnell has a terrific average of 26.89. Both Morris and Parnell will be part of their domestic teams Cape Cobras and Titans and will be monitored closely.
