An all-round show from Indian T20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur helped Sydney Thunders to win their first game in the Women’s Big Bash League. Harmanpreet showed an assertive approach and performed luminously in both the departments of the game. While bowling in the first innings of the game, she grabbed four wickets to provide a jittery end to the innings of Melbourne Stars Women. Her bowling kept Melbourne Stars in check and did not allow them to touch the 120-run mark.

Sydney Thunders had a great start as the opening our shared 59 runs in first 10 overs but soon they were in trouble as they were two down on a score of 77 in 13.3 overs. With only 39 balls left, Thunders needed 40 more runs when Kaur arrived at the crease. She started off well as she was playing a rate of the run ball but soon in the penultimate over of the game, she surprisingly changed the gear and accelerated the innings and smashed a six, four and a six to finish the game in M.S. Dhoni style.

Currently, she is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with four wickets to her account and is the third highest run scorer in the tournament.

Her contribution will be a deciding factor for Thunders that will guide them in the tournament, ahead.
