We Deserve To Go Into The IPL And Enjoy Ourselves – Virat Kohli

And, finally, all the preparations and the experiments for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 are done and dusted. Now, it is the time for the Indian cricket to enjoy the game of cricket in T20 mode alongside the players of various teams in the world. Meanwhile, in the post-match press conference after the series loss, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli feels that all the players deserve to go to IPL and enjoy themselves.

India lost the T20I series and followed it up with a series loss in ODI game of cricket as well. However, Virat Kohli feels that it won’t make any impact for the team, as they are looking at the bigger picture and also added that they learnt their mistakes.

It has been a hectic season – Virat Kohli

From the last world cup to the upcoming grand event, Indian cricket has seen a lot of changes. Especially, after the change in captaincy, India walked altogether in a different path, where the professionalism took a boost with new selection criteria like yo-yo Test and performances in domestic cricket mattered the most.

He highlighted the fact that it has been a hectic season, which took a toll on them. Kohli wants all of them to enjoy themselves by participating in the Indian Premier League 2019.

“What we spoke in the dressing room was go and enjoy in the IPL these two months. Must enjoy ourselves and play because we enjoy the game. Being on the road for so long does take a toll, but when there is a long season, you can reflect on it,” he quoted.

“I think it has been a hectic season, but we are proud of how we have played. Guys have come around and shown character. All of us deserve to go into the IPL and enjoy ourselves. Everything will be taken over by the World Cup when it comes to the tournament,” Virat Kohli said.

Workload management was also discussed:

Further, he revealed that they asked players to be smart and have a good chat with the franchises over their workload. Virat Kohli wants players to be committed to their franchises but at the same time, he wants his players to keep ICC World Cup 2019 in their mind as well.

“We have discussed workload and asked the players to be smart and inform the franchises. All the workload will be monitored and the players will take the opportunity to take breaks. We will be committed to playing the IPL but the World Cup comes once in four years. Everyone is committed to the World Cup and want to be a part of the bus,” he said in the post-match presentation.

Well, as Virat Kohli said, it has been a tough and long season for India. They tasted success more often than not across the formats during the phase and became one of the best teams in the world cricket. Hopefully, there would be no injuries for the key players during IPL 2019.
