We Had A Fairytale First Season, Says Gujarat Lion’s Owner Keshav Bansal
Rajkot based franchise Gujarat Lions picked up Indian cricketers Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja, along with Brendon Mccullum, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo in 2016.
Though the new franchise had lots of huge names to boast off but the talk of the side and the support to his team was given by the young Indian entrepreneur, Keshav Bansal. He is the director of Intex Technologies, one of India’s leading smartphone manufacturing company.
The 26-year-old was the main non-cricketing brain behind the new franchise in 2016, bringing cricket a bit closer to the Rajkot crowd with the tagline ‘game maari che’.
In a small chat with The Mumbai Mirror, the youngest IPL team owner talks about the two-year opportunity he got and how he maximise it and various emotions related to the Lions.
He had a business mind which stills the show. Knowing that his franchise would get just a minimal two-year stretch in IPL, he bought the team and got associated with such a huge brand name like IPL.
“We wanted to promote our brand in the areas like Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. I think we had more or less achieved our targets. 100% of what we had thought. What we were looking, through our association with IPL, is brand integrity, sales management and brand promotion. I think through Gujarat Lions we managed to reach the audience that we hadn’t reached before.”
He was the most searched man on the internet and the most searched topic was his net worth. And according to him, his most priced thing is the fanbase he has gained in his list in a blink of an eye. His fans definitely thank him for bringing IPL to Rajkot.
When asked would he like to continue being a part of this huge propaganda, he showed much interest though didn’t seem to speak much and left the decision on BCCI and showed ample excitement to focus on this year’s IPL and go to win the cup this time.
“In terms of business, everything panned out that the way we had planned. In terms of sports, I think we had done exceptionally well in our very first season. Honestly, there are no regrets”, Bansal added
